As the children sat on the floor excitedly playing with their newly achieved bible buddy, the spirited VBS teacher clapped her hands to get the children’s attention back on her. She had an important question to ask the children and waited patently till the room came to a full quiet. She smiled brightly, took a quick breath, and asked her question compassionately: “Boys and girls,” her voice sweetly sang across the room, “can you tell me what you would do if you had a friend that did not believe in God?”
Without thought our inhibitions a young four year old boy shot his hand in the air with such determination — his arm launching off into outer space should have been the result of his enthusiasm. The teacher knew this young boy and his mom and dad; such faithful servants of the Lord. The young boy held his arm straight, among the waving hands, with absolute knowing — looking like an angel. A cherub really. His small, heart-shaped face surrounded by billows of soft, overflowing curls that delicately highlighted the rosiness of his little, round cheeks, made him irresistible.
The young boys focused eyes and precious smile mesmerized the teacher, prompting her to call on him first: “Connor?” She knew this boy did not need the question repeated to him; he knew the question and he knew the answer.
With all of his heart, in honesty and courage, the young boy spoke loud and clear, “Punch ‘em in the face.”
You may think urban legend? No! Creative or comical story? No! This was my sweet little Connor during Vacation Bible School several years ago. Can you tell he is full of passion and vinegar!! lol!!
So my warning: Watch out world cause Connor is on fire for Christ and he is taking the world by fist (if he has to)!!
Don't let the smile fool ya! |
