What is our hope for those who commit horrific crimes and either get away with it or die while in the throws of committing their crime?
I think Jesus is pretty clear about the justice that would be rendered in heaven and even more so to the killer whom suffered no consequences here on earth.
Luke 17:1-5 He said to his disciples, “Hard trials and temptations are bound to come, but too bad for whoever brings them on! Better to wear a millstone necklace and take a swim in the deep blue sea than give even one of these dear little ones a hard time!
A Millstone is approximately 2000lbs plus, especially the one referenced here in this passage, as it refers to a millstone that is animal run and not human run. Millstones are heavy round stones and are (or were) used to crush grain and wheat.
It is a pretty gruesome and frightening death to conceive! Imagine trying to swim with that tied around your neck! You would be pulled (very quickly) headfirst to the bottom of the sea. And I'm positive one would lose the frantic fight and drown within seconds out of sheer panic.
The Lord isn't vague about his love for us and especially the innocent (children). He not only weeps with us but we can know with absolute certainty that his justice is swift and will reverberate through all of heaven and earth.
That is my hope for the person who murdered my brother and evaded punishment here on earth and also my hope for the unspeakable evils and injustices in this world.
