You know Thanksgiving isn't complete without stuffing (or dressing, whatever you call it)! This recipe and brand was very good; no one knew they were eating GF!
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees
Cook time 25-35 mins
Dice the following:
3 Stalks of Celery
1 large Apple
1/2 of a Sweet Onion
Melt an entire stick of butter
in a sauteing pan
Spices needed:
Rosemary
Sage
Thyme
Garlic
Salt
Pepper
Approximate Measurements
1 tsp Sage
1 tsp Thyme
1/2 tsp Rosemary
1 TBS Garlic
1 tsp Salt
(1/2 tsp if your butter isn't unsalted)
1/4 tsp Pepper
This is the GF product I used
Get some good broth
Sautee your Onion-Apple Mixture
Should be soft and slightly browned
NOTE: Your house is going to smell AMAZING!
Put the entire package of GF
stuffing bread into a large bowl
Add your Onion-Apple Mixture
Whisk one egg in a separate bowl
NOTE: You can leave out the egg, if you want.
Just make sure you add more liquid.
Time to get your hands dirty!
After you mix it a bit (helps cool),
add your egg a little at a time
(you don't want scrambled eggs)
Note: There is no other way to mix this,
because you have to"feel" for the correct consistency.
Start adding Broth by the TBS
A little at a time!!!!
Stuffing should stay in a moist ball
when you squeeze it in your hand.
Like so ^^^
NOTE: This is the toughest part, because if you
add too much Broth, you'll have stuffing soup! Gross!
Or if you don't add enough, you're at risk for administering
the Heimlich, because it will be that dry.
Perfect! Stays together.
Moist when I press with my thumb,
but not so much that it drips.
NOTE: If you add too much liquid, toast some GF bread,
chop it up, then add a little at a time until the extra liquid is soaked up.
Press into a greased pan
then pour 1/4 stick of melted Butter over the top.
NOTE: You can leave out the butter for lower calories, and simply brush the top with melted butter; however, you have to make sure the dough is moist enough to not dry out during the cooking process.
Cook for 25-35 mins.
Stuffing should be lightly browned
with no liquidiness.
ENJOY!!!
