As my heart, almost subconsciously, counts down to the reality of that horrible day; I am literally paralyzed with the sweet memories of his life and the vicious memories of his death. His compassionate yet mischievous blue eyes crowded by a soft layer of blonde locks ending at the most contagious, magnificent smile –vanishing to his lifeless face, cold body, covered in bleeding, death-filled holes. An intense, cruel violence churned by the most aggressively intense betrayal –his unconditional love for her, his grandest folly. Reckless love. His greatest characteristic lead to his ultimate demise; how unwise and deadly is the one whom blindly loves –as there are many devourers hiding under the precious, pure white cloak of a gentle lamb; stealing your heart, mind, and soul with a charming destruction, a sugary cruelty, and an enthralling brutality. Sin will always takes us farther, faster, and deeper than we ever intended to go –until we altogether and absolutely forget who we are. The loss of his life and relationship reverberates through my heart like that of a raging, devastating earthquake; a pain so deep that even the most extreme downpour of tears will never quench it, never satisfy the ache. The immense loss of a life ended too soon –my heart misses him so much that I can hardly stand it; weary from the enormity. His life has brought me mountains of joy and sorrow, the purest of friendship and loss, and powerful amounts of laughter and tears. In the wake of such an atrocious murder, his life left behind many invaluable lessons:
Keep vigilant watch over your heart;
that's where life starts.
Don't talk out of both sides of your mouth;
avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip.
Keep your eyes straight ahead;
ignore all sideshow distractions.
Watch your step,
and the road will stretch out smooth before you.
Look neither right nor left;
leave evil in the dust.
~Proverbs 4:23-27 (MSG)
