Weapon of Mass Destruction

Today I came downstairs to see that Joey was playing with John's stretchy bands, and I immediately think to myself, 'He's not allowed to play with those!' Do I say that out loud? No! Nor can I explain why I'm so easily drawn to their stretchy-ness --sucked right into their seductive call to play and not take away! lol!
Now, I shouldn't have to explain why my boys (ehhmm! nor I) are not allowed to play with them! Yes, let your imaginations runaway with you...that's right! They can easily become a weapon of mass destruction --not just inflicting bodily harm but causing property damage too!

As if fun blackened out my better reasoning, I find myself  at the end of the stretchy band, pulling on it! Joey has both the handles in his hands and I'm pulling on the center; kind of like a huge sling shot aimed right at Joey. He is laying on the ground and I am standing up. Yep, just let that paint a picture of expected horror in your minds! lol!

I'm teasing him with the band because he is pulling back on the handles too hard. I say, "You better be careful little boy, you don't want to pull this out of my hand! It'll snap you in the booty!" As soon as I say it, I see the little flash of mischief twinkle in his eyes, and then I see it...or should I say them coming. Each handle cracks me in the face; one hitting each eye! EACH EYE!!!

I must state here that my boy did not intend in any way shape or form for me to get hurt. He only thought, I'm gonna snap you (thinking it would be like a rubber band) before you snap me. He had no clue that the trajectory of the bands would undeniably hit my face; he's seven!

Anyhow, I have one major purply eye that is both cut and horribly swollen. And I'm closely watching the other eye that is trying to turn purple. I write to from under a massive ice pack strapped across my face. Pressed over both eyes, and held by a perfectly placed sports head band Noah put on me. I look hilarious!

Although my head is pounding, I cannot wait to go to work tomorrow to see what my students' reactions! lol! I'm going to let my 7th graders, try to guess what happened....I cannot wait to hear their stories. I'm chuckling now in anticipation of their imaginations!

I also must confess that as a young girl, I always secretly wanted a black eye! Crazy I know. But not that bizarre when you consider the fact that I had a who gaggle of brothers. And all those years of rough play, I never had one. All the fights I got into, never had one! I play with my 7 year old, I get one! And being an adult with a black eye is not cool, you know what I mean! lol! Go figure!!

  1. I think it is the manufactures problem, was there any warning label on the bands, were you told, in any way, to not hit yourself in the face, eye, nose or any other delicate body part ? Definitely should have been warning labels on such dangerous piece of equipment that has the potential of causing significant damage and disfigurement. I think you can obtain the number of a lawyer who will take the case on sheister.com. Good luck !
